Create Your Own Artesian Bread

Creating your own “Artesian” bread – How fun is that!  I remember how great the fresh baked bread smelled when I came home from school on bread baking day.  I remember now good that bread tasted when spread with butter and jam.  Yes, I like my mother have on occasion baked bread the “old fashioned way”. But in the fast paced world I live in, there’s not time for baking bread the “old fashioned way”.  However, since I acquired my bread baking machine, bread baking has become a fun home hobby for me.  My husband loves it too, as he benefits from coming home to a house filled with the aroma of fresh baked bread.

Sewing and Knitting Basics

There comes a time in everyone's life where they begin to wonder about sewing and knitting their own clothes. It is just a natural process that occurs with age. For some people, they only ponder it for a couple minutes. There are others that wonder about it for years before trying their hand at these fun hobbies you can do at home. Whether you are just someone thinking about it for the first time or you are extremely experienced in this hobby, you are going to need some basic supplies to start your adventure. And being well equipped for any adventure, hobby or other, is extremely important.
The first thing you want to do is find an area in your house that allows your creative mind to roam free. This is something that a lot of people do not give much thought. Life is full of distractions, and all of these distractions will take away from your hobby experience. You want your mind to be full dedicated to whatever is at hand, such as sewing or knitting some clothing. The spot should be in a part of your house that has enough room for your supplies, but is not too big to not feel comfortable. You should also make sure that the temperature of the room is at a level that you would enjoy for hours. Nothing too cold to make distract you, and nothing too warm to put you to sleep.
Gather up all of the supplies you are going to need for your latest hobby adventure. For both knitting and sewing, you are going to need a very comfy chair. This hobby is often performed at great lengths in a chair, and you do not want anything to start hurting on you. A comfy chair will save you a lot of back aches and physical frustrations. Second, for sewing, you are going to need some needles and thread, and maybe a sewing a machine. The sewing machine really depends on the kind of sewing you are performing. For knitting, you will need some yarn and some knitting needles. Depending on your skill with the hobby, you may need some basic designs for making clothes. These designs will assist with guiding you through the process of creating items.
Sewing and knitting are fun hobbies you can do at home that allow you to put your personality in your clothes. You can make all of your own clothes from scratch and not have to worry about purchasing them from a store. The best is when you make winter mittens for yourself, and you create them with a pattern or design that you made. Sewing and knitting allow you to pour your creativity right into the fabrics you are working with. They no longer are simple pieces of clothing for you to wear around. They are now extensions of your time, effort, and patience. Spend some time planning out each piece you want to make, because in the end you will be the one wearing them or giving them away. You want every piece to be received with rave reviews.

Getting The Kids In The Garden

There are so many learning experiences that can be found in the garden. All you have to do is take your child outside and they can see the wonders of the world right there in your hobby. Gardening offers you one of the best ways to produce something for your family: food and education. Your child can see the way the world grows and produces food. She can begin to understand how important it is to take care of the Earth and not just pollute. They can also understand how the ecosystem works with bugs, plants, and bacteria. Spending some time with your child while working in the garden can produce the best results of all: bonding and loving time for you and your child.
Your child should be put in charge of growing a certain section of the garden. Let them watch you till the soil, plant the seeds, and take general care of the plants. It will show them that they have to take care of a living organism on a daily basis. They will have to water it, trim the wilted leaves, fertilize it, and make sure that the soil is well taken care of. You could even entice them with the opportunity of selling their grown vegetables at the end of the season. This would allow them to have a taste of finances and what it is like to be a part of the business world. Also, not to sound morbid, but if their plant is to die then the child will have a taste of what it means to lose something. Gardening is one of those fun hobbies at home that contain a wealth of experiences and information for anyone.
Letting your child grow their own flowers could be the most enriching experience you can give them. Showing them that life blooms from tiny seeds planted in the ground will give them a new perspective on how the world works. They can also enjoy the sights and smells of the plants growing and blooming. Let them pick the plants and flowers. Show them how to arrange a bouquet that you can put as the centerpiece of the kitchen table. This will show them that you appreciate all of their hard work while growing those flowers. You should also show them how to prepare seeds for the following season. Gather up all of the seeds from the flowers and get them planted and ready. Your child will learn all about the circle of life and how life continues on after death. It will be an experience that will revolutionize the way your child imagines the world around him.
Fun hobbies at home do not have to be complicated or difficult. It simply takes some imagination to figure out some new project you want to enjoy. Grab you kids and have them join you on the adventure. Hobbies are all about personal growth, and assisting your child with that growth can be a lifelong experience.

Planting A Garden

One of the most common fun hobbies at home one can do is planting a garden. Most people will not view this as a hobby; they see it more as a choir. This is completely incorrect thinking. Planting a garden takes time, care, and patience. You must plant the seeds along with the love you have for those plants. It is a craft that is one of the most basic kinds of there. You are not simply crafting a good; you are crafting life. Every day you get to watch that small seed grow into a huge plant, and you get to witness all of your efforts coming to life. Hobbies at home are fun adventures that allow you to express your inner creativity.
The creative planning for making a garden at home starts long before the seeds are in the ground. Grab a piece of paper and something to write with. You should design your garden area using precise measurements of the plotted land you expect to use. You can really get creative during this stage of gardening. Imagine creating a garden with a river running through it, or a multi-leveled garden that looks almost like stairs. You do not have to do something simple, like a normal square plot of land. You could even use some old car or bike parts to make your garden look old and rustic. How about a windmill in the center of your garden to give it a real farm feel? Hobbies are meanty to be fun, and that fun gets better at home.
The next step for planning out your garden is to figure out which fruits and vegetables you want to grow. You should check your local farmers market guide to see which plants can be planted during specific seasons. You do not want to waste money by planting any old vegetable in the garden without checking to see if it is the proper time for it to grow. A lot of vegetables and fruits grow well together in small areas, but there are some that will choke the roots of other plants. This is something else you will want to check before you start planting. No other hobbies at home give you the fun and creative freedom to create life. Gardening is one of the most fulfilling hobbies at home you can do, and the fun will continue to give back day after day.
The most complicated aspect of gardening comes at the start of the hobby. You need to get your 'green thumb'. This only comes with time and experience in the garden. Eventually, you will understand how to grow certain fruits and vegetables more effectively and efficiently. Your creative mind will grow along with the plants, so each season will be a more elaborately planned out gardening area. And, the best part, you get to eat all of your efforts at the end of the season. You could even jar them up and give them to friends and family as gifts. The possibilities are endless with the amazingly fun gardening hobbies you can do at home.

Getting The Kids Involved

Being a parent is never an easy task. You have to take care of the children, and you have to ensure that they are growing up and developing well. This can add a lot of stress onto your life, but it does not have to be this way. Creative hobbies can be the perfect way to entertain the child and make sure that they are becoming well-rounded individuals. You ask them about what they want to be when they grow up; maybe have them paint you a picture of what it would look like. Kids do not always want to sit down and do something creative, so taking a subtle approach might be the best way to tackle getting them creative.
Kids never want to do something just for the sake of doing it. They want to know why they are doing it and how they are going to benefit from it. For this reason, you need to try and find reasons for your kids to do creative and fun hobbies at home. Most kids also enjoy working in groups together. They can bounce ideas off each other and chit-chat about their drawings or paintings. Get your child's friends together and have them draw something as a big group. And the word big there should be taken as huge, because the bigger the piece of paper they have, the more freedom you are giving them. Kids love to know that they have freedom, and it can help them feel creative.
You could also encourage your kids to become each other's penpals. Get them to draw and write and paint each other letters every couple weeks. Another option is to have all of the kids try to create something for a contest. You want to get them involved and critically thinking. This is crucial for their development. A contest would spur a pleasant level of competition, and it would allow the children to feel rewarded for their efforts. Make sure that every kid gets something though, or you might have some angry kids on your hands. The whole plan would backfire and you would be back at square one, with the child hating art. One of the most succesful ways to get a child creating is to have them join in on something you are creating.
A child learns by watching and observing. Having them interact with you while you create something can be a lifelong experience for them. They could remember that moment for the rest of their life. It does not matter what you are creating, just have the child involved in some way. Do not force them to be involved though. This would be counterproductive. You want them to want to be there on their own terms. Children look up to their parents for advice and experiences, and this could be just the thing they need to start them on a creative career for the rest of their life. Woodworking, baking, sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, it does not matter. Something will eventually spark your child's imagination, and when it does you need to keep feeding their hungry mind.

Back to Baking Bread

I guess I’ve been on a bread baking kick lately.  I wanted to share with you my favorite breakfast bread and how I turned it into one of my favorite fun hobbies at home.  This recipe required some what I call “in the kitchen time”.  As you can see, it does have raisins in it.  If you put the raisins in at the beginning of the process, the machine will basically knead them into oblivion.  The flavor remains, but you cannot see them.

Scrapbooking - Keeping Records For The Family

Scrapbooking is one of those fun hobbies you can do at home that allow you to keep family photos organized. It really allows you to kill two birds with one stone. You can express yourself through the way you keep and store photos and notes, but it also gets rid of a bunch of clutter you may have hanging around. Plus it allows you to keep better care of the photos and physical memories that you cherish. Leaving all of those around in a box somewhere can be damaging to the quality of the items. They can end up getting faded, bent, or lost. Keeping it all in a nice and organized scrapbook allows you to know where they are and what condition they are in at all times.
There are plenty of different designs and patterns you can create while scrapbooking your memories away. You could invest in some rubber stamps and place various ink or paint designs all over a page. This will give you some permanent presses on the scrapbook that will withstand the test of time. You could also invest in some old fashioned glue and construction paper. This will give you the tools to properly design and create what you want each scrapbook page to look like. Speaking of pages, there are so many ways you can design the overall theme of your scrapbook. You could do it by person, age, page, chapters, or anything else that sparks your interest. It is your scrapbook, so you should be the one to determine how the final product looks.
Scrapbooking, one of the many fun hobbies you can do at home, is a simple and enjoyable creative trip down memory lane. You get to relive all of the moments that those pictures bring to your mind. Plus you can express some creativity along with those memories. Maybe you will combine the two and create something based off of each memory that an individual item gives you. You could end up creating something that no one has every imagined before, because they are all based off of your personal memories.
You should think of hobbies as fun adventures for you at home. You do not have to leave or go anywhere, and you do not have to spend a lot of money. The fun comes right to your home, and you are the master of events. Everything that happens is caused by your own mind, and everything created is done by your own hands. Scrapbooking is just one of the many ways to explore your own creative side. Take full advantage of all that it has to offer you. There are not too many other creative mediums that allow you to design around your own physical memories. Not only will it open up your mind to all that of the creative way to design a scrapbook page, but you might end up rediscovering some lost memories you forgot you had. Scrapbooking hobbies are fun and best done at home with your family. Share the fun of finding memories with your children; you could turn it into a bonding event.

Having Fun With Hobbies At Home

There is something truly special about doing your own hobbies at home. The fun you can have is completely unimaginable. Creating is something that you cannot experience through media, books, or any other form of publication. You need to be there, doing it with your own hands. Because there is no greater feeling then when you step back from your creation, your hands all covered in paint or cake batter or whatever, and you just smile at what you created. It does not matter what you created. It could be something small or large, edible or not, practical or imaginitive. The only thing that matters is that you created it. You took an idea or image in your mind and produced something tangible with it. That is something that can only be produced by fun hobbies at home. There is no other place you can find that same magical and joyful feeling that comes from producing something.
Take a moment and sit down in your most comfortable chair in the house. Close your eyes and let you rmind wander for a bit. Imagine anything that makes you smile or happy. Just keep thinking and dreaming about it. Eventually, there will be a moment where something pops into your head. That something is going to be the basis for your creation. It will be your 'ah-ha' moment, where the light bulb clicks on and your brain starts figuring out how to make it. That will be a pure moment of excitement for you - the spark before the explosion. The supplies will be the next step, which is always a blast. What are you going to use to make it? How are you going to make it? Are you going to give it to someone when it is done? The questions will eventually become answers, and the answers will become results. Just be sure to take it one step at a time, because rushing too quickly could result in a slip-up or a skipped step.
Being creative is crucial to being alive. You need that creative energy in every aspect of your life. Being creative means you can problem solve well. For example, you are given the idea of creating something, but the problem is trying to actually make it. Think of being creative with fun hobbies at home like a life-time investment in yourself. You are taking the time to better yourself for the rest of your life.

Baking - The Creative Art of Eating

Cakes, cookies, breads, and so much more can be fun hobbies at home. Never thought of that? Well, next time you find yourself in the kitchen you should start to think about ways to creatively bake yourself a treat. There are so many combinations of sweets and goodies you can make for yourself or others. For example, count the number of ways you know how to bake a cookie. There are oatmeal, peanut butter, sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, raisin, and the list goes on and on. These are just the basic recipes for cookies. Go ahead and start to imagine some of the other combinations you can make. Basically, every single cookie is its own creative masterpiece. Someone somewhere had to come up with a way to produce and create that cookie for you to enjoy.
Think of baking as the most tastefully enjoyably hobby you can do. Not only are you producing something creative, but it is completely edible (most of the time anyways). Baking a cake or cookies or whatever should be something you perform like any of the other fun hobbies at home you can do. Plan it out and think about it for awhile. Are you going to use any frosting? What shape are you going to bake? Is there going to be some kind of filling? What about the concistency of the baked good? All of these are things you need to think about before you start whisking away. Every single part of the cake, cookie, bread, or whatever should be designed ahead of time. You want tastes and flavors that compliment each other, but stand out on their own.
Baking becomes even more creative when you think about the person you are baking the cake for. Are they vegan? Are they allergic to anything? What if you are out of a certain ingredient and do not have time to run to the store? You should always have back-up plans for your baked goods. Research online some of the alternatives you can put in the cake for eggs and oils. You might be surprised to learn that applesauce is the perfect substitute for eggs when baking cakes and breads. You can use bananas when cooking cookies. This will give you a fluffier and less fattening baked goods than if you were to use eggs. Every ingredient in your cake is an individual piece that creates the final product. Make sure you are aware of your options when you begin to cook. There are plenty of ways to bake something, but you will only know that if you spend some time looking into the creative ways to do it.
Baking is one of the most exciting and fun hobbies you can do at home. You get to spend the time producing something, and then you get to watch someone enjoy it. It makes you smile knowing that someone else simply loves the item you created. There really is no greater feeling in the world. Thankfully, baking is not a very difficult task, so you can bake something every night of the week! Just be sure to check on any health allergies before you go venturing into the kitchen.

Getting Creative In The Kitchen

There is a plethora of ways to bake a cake these days. You no longer have to be limited to the simple square baking pan that you once were forced to use. You can now plan ahead of time and design a multi-leveled cake, or a uniquely shaped cake specialized for an occassion. Imagine it, you bake a cake that actually looks like a gift for someone's birthday. That would be a surprise that they would remember for years! Baking fun cakes at home is just one of the hobbies that you can entertain yourself with while producing something worthwhile. There are people out there that actually make a living off creating and design extravagant cakes for parties and events. You could be one of those professional cake makers, but it is going to take some time in the kitchen to do it.
The first thing you will need to do is figure out what kind of cake shape you want to make. There really is no limit to this step; you are in full control of your cake. You can do something simple or extravagant, chocolate or vanilla, cream filled or frosted. You could base it off an object from around the world, such as a statue or the person's favorite item. You could also do something simple with a design on the front of it. You should really try to customize the cake to create something completely unique for the individual receiving it. Think of the colors they enjoy, or the hobbies they like doing, or even the events they enjoy attending. All of these things should play into how you want to design your cake. Just take your time when planning everything out. Cake baking has a bit of a time restraint on it due to your materials being edible. You do not want to get to a certain step and realize you forgot to add a certain ingredient or you did not remember to pick up enough frosting.
Start designing your cake by sectioning it off into squares. Imagine cutting the cake up into certain areas, and then design each of these areas individually, while working towards the larger picture. This gives you smaller areas to work with, so you may not feel like it is so overwhelming at times. This also gives you more control on the overall picture of the cake. Planning everything down the last square of the cake allows you to have more options while designing. You can dedicate certain squares to writing sayings and other squares to pictures or layers. You could also have certain areas just for fillings, such as pudding or jellies. Cake baking is becoming one of the more popular and fun hobbies at home you can do. You should hop on the trend wave and try it out for yourself. You may find that you have a certain ability to understand the way a cake is formed and held together. Cake baking is just one of the other mediums for someone do to at home. Fun hobbies are all around you, but it can take some searching to really find them.
